Την ατομική έκθεση του Γιάννης Σακέλλης με τίτλο Where Figures Drift παρουσιάζουν, στο CAP St George Hotel & Resort η γκαλερί Ψηφίδα και το CAP St George Hotel & Resort.
Σύμφωνα με σχετική ανακοίνωση, με τη νέα του δουλειά, ο Γιάννης Σακέλλης εξερευνά τα όρια της παρουσίας και την εύθραυστη σχέση του σώματος με τον χρόνο, προτείνοντας μία ποιητική, σχεδόν ατμοσφαιρική διαδρομή ανάμεσα στη διατήρηση και την εξαΰλωση.
Στο Where Figures Drift, η ανθρώπινη μορφή τοποθετείται στο όριο της εξαφάνισης.
Κάθε σώμα, αποδίδεται μέσα από στρώσεις μελανιού και διαφάνειας, αιωρείται σε μια κατάσταση αναστολής — ανάμεσα στη γένεση και τη φθορά, στο μεταίχμιο του ορατού και του αόρατου.
Τα έργα αποτυπώνουν στιγμές μετάβασης, όπου η παρουσία υποχωρεί και η μορφή μοιάζει να διαλύεται μέσα στον αέρα.
Οι επιφάνειες παραμένουν ανοιχτές και άυλες, επιτρέποντας στη φιγούρα να αναπνέει και να μεταβάλλεται, αφήνοντας πίσω της ένα αμυδρό ίχνος κίνησης.
Στην ίδια κατεύθυνση κινούνται και οι εγκαταστάσεις Murmuration, που επεκτείνουν αυτή τη λεπτή, σχεδόν χορογραφημένη δυναμική.
Σχηματισμένες από σιλουέτες πουλιών σε πτήση, δημιουργούν παροδικούς σχηματισμούς — πλήθη μικρών σωμάτων που κινούνται συλλογικά, ενώνονται και διαλύονται, παράγοντας μορφές που αναδύονται και χάνονται διαρκώς.
Η έκθεση περιλαμβάνει επίσης επιλεγμένα έργα από τη σειρά The Carcass/ο Ψοφίμι, εμπνευσμένη από το ποίημα Une Charogne του Σαρλ Μπωτλαίρ.
Εδώ, η διερεύνηση της θνητότητας και της ομορφιάς λειτουργεί ως αντίβαρο στην άυλη ποιότητα των νέων έργων, φωτίζοντας τη συνέχεια ανάμεσα στη ζωή και τη φθορά, στη μνήμη και την απουσία.
Τα εγκαίνια θα πραγματοποιηθούν την Κυριακή 14 Δεκεμβρίου 2025 στις 18:30, ενώ η έκθεση θα διαρκέσει έως τις 11 Ιανουαρίου 2026.

Psifida Gallery and CAP St George Hotel & Resort. is pleased to present Where Figures Drift, a solo exhibition by Yiannis Sakellis, hosted at the CAP St George Hotel & Resort. The opening ceremony will take place on Sunday, 14 December 2025 at 18:30, and the exhibition will run until 11 January 2026.
In Where Figures Drift, the human figure is positioned on the threshold of disappearance. Each body, rendered through delicate layers of ink and transparency, hovers in a suspended state — between emergence and dissolution, at the boundary between the visible and the invisible. The works capture transitional moments in which presence recedes, and the form seems to disperse into air. The surfaces remain open and weightless, allowing the figure to breath and shift, leaving behind only a faint trace of movement.
This exploration extends into the installations Murmuration, composed of small, silhouetted birds in flight. These works form ephemeral collectives — clusters of bodies that move together, converge, and disperse, generating shapes that continuously appear and vanish.
The exhibition also includes selected works from the series The Carcass/Το Ψοφίμι, inspired by Charles Baudelaire’s poem Une Charogne. Within this context, the study of mortality and beauty acts as a counterbalance to the immaterial atmosphere of the new works, revealing the continuity between life and decay, memory and absence.
Through this body of work, Yiannis Sakellis reflects on the vulnerability of the human form and its fragile relationship with time, proposing a poetic space where bodies drift between presence and erasure.
